Civil human rights refer to the freedom of every person politically and socially. These rights should be equal to every human being whether migrants or not. Often, these rights are jeopardized by other people, institutions or the government.

It is true also that if one person is denied his or her rights, the rest of the people would also be at risk of undergoing the same. It is with this breath that many groups have been formed to fight for the rights of these vulnerable groups of people. Here are a few of these groups.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA)

CHIRLA is a group of immigrant families from different countries that was formed in 1986. The group came about after formulation of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 that prohibited hiring individuals who held no documentation. The California based group fights for various rights of immigrants.

These rights include mobility and the right to participate in national activities. The primary mission of CHIRLA is to ensure that the society fully accepts immigrants. CHIRLA achieves these goals by rallying individuals, organizations and coalitions to work together as a strong force that can change policies and public opinions in favor of immigrants.

The American Civil Liberties Union

The American Civil Liberties Union is an organization that fights for the rights of every individual. This organization has been offering services for almost a century and specializes in the rights of vulnerable groups like immigrants. The mission of this group is to ensure that every individual enjoys the rights and freedoms documented in the Constitution.

The organization comprises of members, supporters, and activists that are spread across the United States. It also has operations in Puerto Rico. ACLU manages to achieve its goals through litigation and public awareness. The group has been able to change policies and pass bills that fight for these liberties. The Advocates for Human Rights

The Advocates for Human Rights is a human rights movement that was formed more than 30 years ago. The organization works hard to ensure that the rule of law is implemented to achieve a just society.

The group has continually changed to better the lives of vulnerable groups, such as immigrants, refugees, and other marginalized groups. The group draws its support from volunteers and partners who also want to see the rights of individuals respected.

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund (LLFF)

LLFF is a fund dedicated to supporting groups that fight for civil, human and migrant rights. It also supports the fight for the democratic participation and freedom of expression for Arizona residents. The locations covered include the Mexican border.

LLFF came about after Michael and Jim won a settlement of $3.75 million accorded by the court. The two activists, who are co-founders of the Village Voice Media and Phoenix New Times, were arrested in October 2007 for revealing a secret jury proceeding. They were arrested by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County. The two then sued the county in the United States Court of Appeals where they won the said settlement.

Victims of Arpaio Create Charitable Organization

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, two victims of Joe Arpaio, corrupt former sheriff, have created The Frontera Fund and Front Page Confidential. After winning a $3.75 million lawsuit, Lacey and Larkin have decided to continue fighting.

Arpaio violated their first amendment rights back in 2007 when he arrested them for an article they published in their paper. It has been a long path but one worth the effort. Now, Lacey and Larkin finally have the resources needed to not only fight Arpaio and others like him, but they also can make a real change within the community.

They have created The Frontera Fund to make those changes. The Frontera Fund was created with the $3.75 million dollar settlement they received from Maricopa County, the county that elected Arpaio sheriff. The Frontera Fund supports charities ranging from Can The Border Divide Us?, who focuses primarily on assisting Hispanic residents, to the ACLU of Arizona, which makes efforts towards a large variety of causes.

Lacey and Larkin also created a new publication called Front Page Confidential, an online newspaper. Front Page Confidential publishes content relating to politics, civil rights, and immigration law.

About Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin

The two business partners met in college. It was in school where they created their first newspaper. The paper was created to provide an alternative for students that didn’t share the school’s conservative views.

Due to the success of their school paper, the two dropped out of college to explore the newspaper industry. They worked their way up from being merely writers and eventually purchased The Phoenix New Times.

Since the lawsuit, the two have sold The Phoenix New Times in favor of pursuing the two more noble causes previously mentioned.

The philanthropic work of Dick DeVos is an area I have become increasingly pleased to read about as I have been seeking new ways of discovering more about this impressive Michigan based business leader. I beieve the ability of Dick DeVos to provide a greater level of success for himself and the people of Grand Rapids, Michigan is just the latest sign of a leader who has always been at the heart of the success of his local community. Although he was born into the successful DeVos family headed by patriarch Richard Devos, founder of the AmWay Group, Dick DeVos decided to go his own way and left the family business to go his own way with the formation of The Windquest Group; upon returning to the AmWay company, Dick DeVos proved himself to myself and his fellow executives by turning the much neglected international sales department into the main area of profit for the company in just six short years. In the year 2013, Anthony Petrello who works as a CEO in Nabors Industries was named as the best-paid boss according to Equilar’s list of 50 top-paid CEOs in America. He received $68.2 million that year, and this was 246 percent of the amount he received in the year 2012. Apparently, he might not be position one again in the year 2014 because the shareholders do not agree with the compensation.

Many wonder why he is highly paid but they do not know that he is the company’s executive roster serving as the chairman, CEO, and president. Nabor Industries serves the oil sector as an oil-field service company and a contract driller and has been doing well in business under Petrello’s control. He has been working for the company for more than a decade after leaving Baker and Mckenzie law firm in the year 1991. In the United States, there has always been different types of immigrant rights that people are granted when they are in different situations. This is something that has been a huge help to the people who are coming to the country and to those who are hoping to come to the country.

When someone comes to the United States, they generally go to a sanctuary city so that they will be protected even if they had to go through the backdoor method of coming into the United States. It has been something that guarantees that immigrants are able to be accepted in to the country and that they will not be deported.

Recently, though, there have been major issues with the sanctuary cities. The people who run the cities are taking away the protection under orders from the President to do so. The cities are unable to protect their immigrants anymore and that has caused some major problems for the people who want to come here and who have already started to come here.
