George Soros: Billionaire Philanthropist Superhero

Anytime there’s a story about a billionaire donating a large amount of money to a charity, they’re usually preparing for a big political announcement. It’s rare to hear about a billionaire who’s just trying to help make the world a better place. Rare or not, that’s exactly who George Soros is.

Over 30 years ago, Mr. Soros founded the Open Society Foundations. As his career brought him more success and money, he wanted to use that money to give back. He started this foundation to help as many people, regardless of where they lived. He’s given so much to this one organization; his donation’s been listed as one of the largest transfers of wealth from an individual to a single organization.

Over the last 30-plus years, Soros has donated $18 billion in all. The only reason people haven’t known about this until now is that the NY Times only reported on this last Tuesday.

It’s nearly impossible to mention all the great deeds that Open Society has accomplished. The organization operates in more than 120 countries. Recently, their focus has been on the United States. After Donald Trump’s presidential victory, a wave of hate swept across the country.

More than ever, Soros feels it’s important to fight against the hate. He explains as dark forces trying to destroy the light that is the United States. His political affiliations with Democratic politicians attracted a lot of unwanted attention from Republicans and far-right conspiracy theorists. He’s been labeled some of the craziest things people can make up.

Of the first accusations, he’s been trying to undermine several European countries’ control over their borders. One group says he’s trying to make Ireland a pro-abortion country. Luckily, few people buy into the crap these organizations spew. According to the National Philanthropic Trust, he’s the exact type of person the world needs now.

In a JPost article, the demonization of philanthropy was fully explained. Over the years, Soros’s generous activities have been construed as horrible acts of aggression. Most of these complaints come from right-wing nut-jobs with nothing else to do with their lives.

Anytime Soros has supported an equal rights group, these people launch fully anti-Soros propaganda. Oddly, people haven’t liked Soros since he made $1 billion in 1992. Since then, the hatred’s just been piling on top of itself.
